Saving and Printing from the Internet
Saving information from the Internet is done in the same way you save any documents using Microsoft Word or Excel. First you need to decide where to save the file i.e. either to floppy disk or zip disk or hard disk drive.
To save files to a floppy disk:
- Insert a floppy disk onto floppy disk drive.
- Click on File menu and then click on Save As.
- In the File name box type A:\File name make sure to select Text file on the Save as Type box.
- Finally click on Save.
To save files onto hard disk drive:
- Click on File menu and then click on Save As.
- Click on Save in drop down menu box, double click on the hard disk drive and then double click on the folder name.
- In the File name box type the File name and make sure to select Text file on the Save as Type box.
- Finally click on Save.
Saving images from the Internet is done by clicking the right side of the mouse. When you right click on the image you want to save, the save as option will appear on the screen.
To save images onto a floppy disk or hard disk drive:
- Right click on the image you want to save and then click on Save Picture As.
- Click on Save in box and click on Floppy A if you want to save onto a floppy disk or click on hard disk drive.
- Type A:\File name in the File name box and make sure that you select JEPG (*.jpg) or GIF in the Save As Type box.
- Finally click on Save.
Downloading PDF files - occasionally you may come across files that demand to be read as PDF files. This means that you need to download the PDF file you want to read. In order to do this you must have the Acrobat Reader program installed on your machine otherwise you will not be able to read these files.
To download PDF files to a floppy disk or hard disk drive:
- Insert a floppy disk into a floppy disk drive if you want to save onto a floppy disk.
- Click on the PDF file you want to download.
- Select Floppy A or hard disk drive.
- Finally click on OK.
Printing from the Internet
- Click on File menu and then click on Print.
- Set the printing options you want.
- Finally click on OK.
or
- Highlight the text you want to print.
- Click on File menu and then click on Print.
- Under Print Range click on Selection.
- Finally click on OK.
Tips!
1. If a web page is designed using frames, right-click on the frame and then click on Print.
2. You can also preview how a web page will look and see how many pages it will be before you print. Just click on the File menu and click on Print Preview.
3. Do not click on the Print icon on the Tool bar unless you are sure of what you need to print.
4. Remember when using the Internet for information treat it like a book. If you add information to your project or coursework, please quote the document title, the author whether organisation or individual and web address as a reference.
